A couple of weeks ago we photographed Jamie and Joe on their special day! It was great to share this time with them! Here are a few of my favorites.

Jamie’s dress was gorgeous:

It’s always fun to see couples whose wedding we photographed at another wedding. Here’s Monique and Chuy (whose wedding we photographed last year) at Jamie and Joe’s wedding:

What Is It?

On Tuesday I gave my students an assignment to photograph some abstract images. Here are a couple of really good ones. Can you tell what they are?

This is one you might see several times a day, in lots of different places:

The class is doing great work, and I am so glad to have the chance to be their teacher!

Valentine’s Day Wedding!

You can’t be much more romantic than getting married on Valentine’s Day!
Lisa and Scott got married at Azusa Pacific University. Scott attends there, where he is quite the baseball player. I also graduated from APU, so it was really cool to photograph a wedding there!

Here’s the lovely Lisa:

The ceremony was at an indoor Atrium in one of the University’s new buildings:

Inauguration Photo

My friend Bob Walker sent me this.

This is a really amazing photo! You can click anywhere and it will zoom in. Give it a second or two to focus. You will be amazed. You can keep clicking to zoom in really, really close.

The photo was taken with a robotic camera with 1474 mega pixels. It is a composite of over 200 individual shots. See if you can find Yo Yo Ma with his iPhone. See if you can find yourself if you were there!

Enjoy!

Rabbit At Rest.

art.updike.afp.gi.jpg

John Updike died today. He was an amazing writer. He introduced the world to Harry Angstrom (“Rabbit”) in a series of four novels that chronicled life in the United States from the 1960’s-1990’s. He also wrote “The Witches of Eastwick,” which later became a movie.

Probably his most famous novel was “Couples,” which showed the trials, joys and tribulations of relationships.

He also wrote poetry, short stories, and critiques. I will miss him. He had a sharp wit, and deep insight into people, with a strong appreciation for faith.

So John, like Rabbit, you are now at rest. Rest in peace.

The Truth Is Out There.

When the “X-Files” was on TV, I would plan my schedule to make sure I could be in front of a TV when it was on. And if that wasn’t possible, I recorded it.

Yes, I am an X-phile.

I was really busy when “X-Files: I Want To Believe” first came out, plus the reviews were not good, so I didn’t make it to the theater. And, I was hoping for a film about the mythology of the series, which this film is not.

Well, I finally caught it last night on PPV.

I thought the film was great. The thing I have always loved about the X-Files is that the story lines are just at the edge of reality: very unlikely to happen, but also within the realm of possibility, so it makes it all the more unsettling.

I really hope there is a third movie, which, if there is, will go back to the mythology of the original series.

I drive my kids crazy when something unusual happens and I ask, “Where are Mulder and Scully when you need them?”

If you are on our email list, you already know about this. If not, read on!

First Wedding of 2009!

Cindy and Carl’s wedding was at the beautiful Callaway Winery in Temecula last Saturday. It was a great way to start the year!

Here is Cindy, looking fabulous!

The Barrel Room where the reception was held was beautiful:

The food and wine were first-class all the way (at least the salad was, for me, the vegetarian)!

So here’s to Cindy and Carl! May you both have a wonderful life together. I know you will. Thank you for having me be part of your day!

Thank You.

I want to take a moment to say thank you to all of our clients and friends who have made 2008 quite a year!

To all of you who trusted us to photograph the most important events in your life, thank you.

To all of you who came to us to record milestone events in your family’s life, and to make history with you, thank you.

To all of you who went out of your way to refer us to other people, thank you.

2008 was certainly a year unlike any other that I can remember. The economic jolts during the year, especially at the end of the year, seem to have everyone running scared. And yet, we seem to remember the things that matter most: family and friends, good times and memories.

Here’s hoping for a safe and more stable 2009. I always seem to greet the new year with lots of optimism, and this time it is no different. I have great hopes for 2009, and I am looking forward to all that is coming!

Happy New Year!
